Before paint apply:
For smooth leather, Angelus recommends these steps before painting:
- Clean: Wipe away dirt with a damp cloth, then let the leather dry completely.
- Remove the factory finish: Apply a small amount of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer to a clean cloth, cotton ball or applicator pad. Gently wipe the area you’ll paint to help the paint adhere.
- Let it dry fully: The prepared surface should look dull and matte before you begin painting. angelus-faq.gorgias.help
Angelus recommends its preparer over acetone, which can damage leather. If you use acetone, test a hidden spot first and avoid soaking the material. angelus-faq.gorgias.help
For patent leather or vinyl, the preparation differs: lightly scuff with 800–1500 grit sandpaper, wipe with Preparer & Deglazer, let dry, then apply an adhesion promoter. angelus-faq.gorgias.help
